RESEARCH & TRIALS

We frequently welcome students to Burwash Manor Farm who are wanting to conduct research on our land. Projects can be as diverse as comparing our farm (as an organic producer) with a farm using pesticides and testing the effects on biodiversity, to assessing the effects of farming systems on river water quality (both recent geography undergraduate studies).

We also have student placements working and learning on the farm: they come for anything from a couple of months to over a year - recent undergraduates have come from colleges such as Harper Adams and Shuttleworth.

The RSPB also conduct studies on our farm to see how bird life is doing (very well, at the moment!)

For the last 8 years we have conducted replicated cereal variety yield trials. The trials site moves around the farm with the rotation, always in the second wheat slot.
